We invite you to go through Costa Rica with this web page,
where you can find different ways to know our country.
It’s the biggest province in Costa Rica, so big that Peninsula
of Nicoya’s south (Costa Rica’s north) and the hole Peninsula
de Osa (Costa Rica’s south), are in Puntarenas. In the first
peninsula there are places like Montezuma, a really beautiful
beach with little waterfalls falling on the sea. In Osa it’s
located Corcovado National Park, for many people, the last
Costa Rica’s natural frontier.
Many more attractions wait to the visitor. Puntarenas
City, the province’s capital, it’s known as “La perla del
Pacifico” (Pacifico’s Pearl). The coast where some cruises
arrive, “El Paseo de los Turistas” (Walk of the Tourists),
the marine park and the tideland, are some of the places
that invite tourists to know Puntarenas. It was in this
port almost two centuries ago, where a shipment of coffee
was sent to Europe for the first time, which nowadays is
still one of our main exportation’s products.
Monteverde forests, beaches like Manuel Antonio, in the
Central Pacific coast and Zancudo, in the south gulf of the
Province, Sierpe river, Caño island (where hunchback whales
from north and south come to giving birth, in almost every
month of the year) and Coco Island, are some of Puntarenas’s
treasures that wait to be discovered by the visitor.
