We invite you to go through Costa Rica with this web page,
where you can find different ways to know our country.
Volcanos and Mountains
From north to south, our country presents a series of mountainous
formations, grouped in four mountain chains; Guanacaste´s
Mountain Range, Tilarán´s Mountain Range (both
located in the northwest area of the country), Central Mountain
Range and Talamanca´s. This last one is the only one
that doesn't have volcanoes; but has the highest mountainous
formations in the country, included Cerro Chirripó,
the highest point in Costa Rican territory.
In some volcanoes, you can arrive very near their crater;
as long as for security reasons, other volcanoes have to
be seen from far. But independently of how close you can
arrive; all of them offer particular characteristics that
make them very interesting; as the Poase's
crater (the second biggest in the planet); or Irazú volcano, that has a crater from which you can appreciate
the others three craters that it has; and Arenal volcano,
with an activity that frequently offers a show at nights
and it has an almost perfect cone; among others.
